Quick summary
This is the short version, for anyone who would rather not read the whole policy. Simply Drive is the operating name of Ariya Automotive Inc., an OMVIC-registered vehicle financing concierge in Ontario. We help people navigate vehicle financing and source a vehicle, including people rebuilding credit, newcomers to Canada, and first-time buyers.
To do that, we collect personal information you give us, such as your contact details, employment, and financial situation. When you choose to move forward with a financing application, a lender may also need your Social Insurance Number and your consent to check your credit. This is sensitive information, and we treat it that way.
We share what is needed, only with your consent, with the lenders and dealership partners who can actually help with your file, and, where it fits your situation, with Licensed Insolvency Trustee referral partners. We also use trusted service providers (for example, website hosting and analytics), some of which are based in the United States. We do not sell your personal information.
You can opt out of our marketing messages at any time, and you can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. For anything privacy-related, email privacy@simplydrive.ca. The full policy below explains all of this in more detail.
Who we are
Simply Drive is the operating name of Ariya Automotive Inc., a vehicle dealer registered with the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC).
- Legal entity: Ariya Automotive Inc., operating as Simply Drive
- OMVIC registration: #5860473
- Registered address: 1270 Finch Avenue West, Unit 10, North York, ON, M3J 3J7
- Phone: (289) 903-1249
- General inquiries: hello@simplydrive.ca
- Privacy inquiries: privacy@simplydrive.ca
To be clear about our role: Simply Drive is not a bank, credit union, financial advisor, financial planner, or lender. We are an OMVIC-registered vehicle financing concierge that helps customers navigate the financing and vehicle-sourcing process. Decisions about lending are made by the lenders we work with, and decisions about insolvency belong with a Licensed Insolvency Trustee.
What information do we collect?
The information we collect depends on how far you choose to go with us. Browsing the site asks very little of you. Submitting an inquiry asks for more. Moving ahead with a financing application asks for the most, because that is what lenders require to make a decision.
Information you provide directly to us
- Contact information: name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
- Employment information: your employer, role, length of employment, and income.
- Financial situation: credit history and credit challenges, existing debts and monthly obligations, banking details, and any down payment or trade-in you plan to use.
- Application information: if you proceed with a financing application, a lender may require your date of birth, Social Insurance Number (SIN), and your consent to obtain a credit report.
Some of this is sensitive, particularly your SIN and your credit information. We only ask for a SIN when a lender requires it to process an application, and only with your consent. You are never required to share it simply to learn about your options.
Information we collect automatically
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at and move through the site.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used for basic site function, analytics, and advertising measurement. See Cookies and online tracking below.
Information we receive from third parties
- Credit bureaus: with your consent, we and our lender partners may obtain your credit report and score from Equifax or TransUnion.
- Lender and dealership partners: financing decisions, approval terms, and vehicle details relevant to your file.
How do we collect your information?
We collect personal information in three main ways:
- Directly from you — through our contact forms, our online assessment tool, by phone, by email, or in person.
- Automatically — through cookies and analytics tools when you use our website.
- From third parties, with your consent — for example, when a credit bureau provides your credit report, or a lender shares a decision on your application.
Our online assessment tool is designed so you can understand your options without handing over contact details up front. You stay in control of when, and how much, you choose to share.
Why do we collect your information?
Under PIPEDA, we are required to identify why we collect personal information and to limit our use of it to those purposes. We collect and use your information to:
- understand your situation and explain your financing options;
- prepare and submit applications to our lender partners on your behalf, with your consent;
- source a suitable vehicle through our dealership partners;
- where it fits your situation, refer you to a Licensed Insolvency Trustee partner;
- communicate with you about your inquiry, application, and vehicle;
- meet our legal, regulatory, and OMVIC record-keeping obligations, and prevent fraud;
- improve our website and services;
- send you marketing communications, only where you have given consent.
If we ever need to use your information for a new purpose that is not described here, we will ask for your consent first, unless the law allows or requires otherwise.
Where is your information stored?
Our website is hosted on Vercel, and we rely on a number of service providers to run our business. Some of these providers are based in the United States, which means your personal information may be stored or processed outside Canada, including in the United States.
We want to be transparent about what that means. While your information is in another country, it is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to that country’s courts, law enforcement, and government authorities under their laws. We choose service providers that we consider reputable, and we use contracts and safeguards intended to give your information a comparable level of protection while it is in their care.
If you would like more detail about our cross-border data practices, you can contact us at privacy@simplydrive.ca.
How long do we keep your information?
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as long as the law requires us to. In practice that means:
- Inquiry and assessment information is kept for up to 24 months after your last contact with us, then securely deleted, unless it is needed for a regulatory reason.
- Financing and transaction records are kept for the period required by OMVIC and by tax and other applicable laws, which is generally several years.
When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will do so unless we are legally required to keep it.
What are your rights?
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you, and ask how we have used and shared it;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Withdraw your consent to our collection, use, or disclosure of your information, subject to legal or contractual limits. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer help with your financing, since lenders require certain information to make a decision;
- Ask questions or make a complaint about how we handle your information.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@simplydrive.ca. We may need to verify your identity first, and we aim to respond within 30 days.
Marketing communications (CASL)
Simply Drive complies with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We send commercial electronic messages, such as marketing emails or text messages, only with your express consent.
When you provide your contact information through our assessment tool or contact forms, you can choose, separately, whether to receive email and/or phone and text communications. You can withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our messages, or by contacting us at privacy@simplydrive.ca or (289) 903-1249.
Withdrawing marketing consent does not stop the messages we need to send to complete something you have asked us to do, such as updates about an active application.
Information from minors
Our services are intended for adults who have reached the age of majority in Ontario, which is 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@simplydrive.ca.
How do we protect your information?
We use security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold. These include encryption of sensitive data in transit and at rest, restricted access so that only people who need the information can see it, confidentiality expectations for everyone who works with us, and the use of vetted service providers.
No system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, so we also limit what we collect and how long we keep it. If a privacy breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as PIPEDA requires.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our practices, technology, or the law change. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to make it more visible. We encourage you to review this page periodically so you stay informed about how we handle your information.
